Negative Working Conditions and Depression
In a recent study from the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research in Ann Arbor, “negative working conditions” were found to be the cause in many middle-aged adults’ depression.
Factors such as: low job satisfaction, little control, and a lack of appreciation by employers are the contributing factors.
If you can’t change your negative circumstances then you must learn to change your perceptions about your circumstances if you hope to cope well. You need to learn how to develop ways of regulating your thoughts and feelings in a way that works for you instead of against you.
Depression is a treatable condition. Learning healthy thinking skills, problem solving sills, coping skills, and communication skills can protect you from getting down. Call us for a free phone consultation and/or to schedule an appointment.
