Antidepressant medications are often prescribed to adults and even to children to help them deal with depression. Research shows that when adults just take medications they have to deal with numerous side effects and have a high rate of recurrent depressions. However, there is little to no data regarding children and the potential long term effects of these medications on their developing brains.

Numerous research studies have shown than psychotherapy, particularly cognitive therapy, behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy can teach people effective problem solving skills, better coping skills, good relational skills. These skills are known to help reduce, overcome and even prevent depression.

You might be suffering silently and struggling to get trough each day and think: “why bother seeking help?” Seeking the help of a qualified professional may be a first brave step to learn to manage your feelings, moods and reactions more constructively.
